LAFC are into the Western Conference semi-finals after beating Austin 4-1 in the second game of their best-of-three tie.
Having ran out 2-1 winners in the first round, the second victory for LA ensured a third match wasn't needed. Andrew Moran came on for the final 25 minutes of the latter win and they now face Vancouver Whitecaps in the semi-finals.
James Beadle kept the second clean sheet of his Birmingham career as the Blues thumped Portsmouth 4-0 in the Championship. Eiran Cashin was an unused substitute for Chris Davies’s side.
Having enjoyed a 12-league game unbeaten run at Coventry City, Carl Rushworth was finally on the end of a loss. The Sky Blues were beaten 3-2 by Wrexham, but still sit three points clear at the top of the second tier.
Igor Julio came on for the final throes of West Ham’s 3-1 win over Newcastle. It was the Irons’ first home win of the season and provided decent entertainment for the neutral as Nuno Espirito Santo danced down the touchline after Tomas Soucek scored his side's third goal in second-half stoppage time.
Amario Cozier-Duberry had a weekend off from ripping it up in League One as Bolton played Huddersfield in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup. The Trotters confirmed their place in the next stage with a 2-1 win over the Terriers, with Amario playing 66 minutes before coming off.
It wouldn’t prove to be such a successful weekend for Mark O’Mahony and Kamari Doyle. Doyle was set up by O'Mahony for the second goal of his Reading career, but the Royals were on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat at home to Carlisle United, having led 2-0.
Charlie Penman came on in the second half added time for Aldershot Town in their FA Cup clash with Weston Super Mare, but they were knocked out thanks to a goal in the 110th minute. Jacob Slater and Harrogate Town are also out of the competition, after they were beaten 3-2 by Mansfield Town.
In Italy, Jeremy Sarmiento came on as a substitute in Cremonese’s 2-1 home defeat to Juventus, with Jamie Vardy grabbing his second goal for his new team.
In France, Ibrahim Osman’s Auxerre came up against Matt O'Riley's Marseille, and Auxerre made it six games without a win in a 1-0 defeat to Roberto De Zerbi's team.
Olivia Johnson came on for the final ten minutes of Bristol City Women’s 4-2 win at Sunderland in WSL2, while Jess Pegram was substituted on after 53 minutes for Rangers in their 3-2 defeat to Hearts.
The unused substitutes over the weekend were: Yoon Doyoung (Excelsior), Caylan Vickers (Barnsley) and Libby Bance (Birmingham City Women).
