Jacob Slater kept alive Harrogate Town’s hopes of Football League survival as he scored a last-gasp minute winner against Colchester United on Saturday.
The Sulphurites looked set to be cut adrift at the foot of the EFL, but the full-back struck in the ninth minute of injury time to ensure that his team have a fighting chance of staying up with two games to go, with just a point separating them and safety.
At the opposite end of the Football League, Carl Rushworth enjoyed the first promotion of his career as Coventry confirmed their return to the top flight with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers. Eiran Cashin started for Rovers, as they moved five points clear of danger.
Tom Watson was brought on for the last 20 minutes of Millwall’s 2-0 win over QPR – a result that moved the Lions up to third in the Championship.
James Beadle and Ibrahim Osman started in Birmingham City’s 1-1 draw with Hull City, while Jeremy Sarmiento was brought on as a second-half substitute in Middlesbrough’s 2-2 draw with fellow promotion chasing Ipswich Town.
Swansea City lost 2-1 to Southampton – Malick Yalcouye came on for the final half an hour.
In League One, having grabbed two goals in Bolton Wanderers’ 5-1 win over Stevenage on Tuesday, Amario Cozier-Duberry showed his creativity as he teed up two goals in their 3-3 draw with Huddersfield on Saturday.
Rounding off our domestic loan action, Michael Dike’s Burgess Hill Town were beaten 2-0 by Dulwich Hamlet in the Isthmian Premier.
In Ligue 1, Diego Coppola’s unbeaten league run with Paris FC extended to eight games as they beat relegation bound Metz. The defender grabbed an assist, teeing up Ilan Kebbal for Paris’ third goal of the afternoon.
In the Bundesliga, Brajan Gruda was introduced for the final half an hour of RB Leipzig’s 3-1 win over Frankfurt and in the Dutch second tier Yoon Doyoung assisted Dordrecht’s consolation goal in their 4-1 defeat to Almere City.
