Heading overseas, Ibrahim Osman setup Auxerre’s winner in their 1-0 victory over Lorient, while Yoon Doyoung came on for the final 25 minutes of Excelsior’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
In their final friendly of pre-season, Roma drew 2-2 with Nyom. Evan Ferguson was brought on for the second half for Roma. They begin their league campaign on Saturday at home to Bologna.
Finally, Matthew Hayden made his full debut for Havant & Waterlooville in their 1-0 win over Evesham United – their first victory of the Southern League Premier South division season.
The winner was to be a thing of beauty as captain Ryan Seager found the back of the net from the halfway line.
