Caylan Vickers and Jess Pegram can look forward to the next round of their respective cup competitions after wins over the weekend.
Barnsley defeated fellow League One side Peterborough United 1-0 to reach the third round of the Emirates FA Cup – Vickers played the full game for Conor Hourihane’s team.
Rangers Women’s result was considerably more emphatic as they demolished Renfrew Ladies 8-0 to reach the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
It wasn’t as enjoyable a weekend for Amario Cozier-Duberry’s Bolton as they crashed out of the FA Cup, losing 4-0 to Swindon Town.
Our goalkeepers in the Championship didn’t have a great time themselves either as Carl Rushworth’s Coventry suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Ipswich Town – although the Sky Blues still have a seven-point lead at the top of the second tier.
Meanwhile, James Beadle’s Birmingham weren’t able to follow up their 2-1 win over Watford as they were beaten 3-1 by Southampton. That was the 21-year-old’s 11th Championship appearances for the Blues.
On the continent, Yoon Doyoung came on for the final 15 minutes of Excelsior’s 2-0 defeat to Groningen, while Evan Ferguson was brought on for the final half an hour of Roma’s 1-0 defeat to Cagliari.
Finally, Lorenz Ferdinand's Havant & Waterlooville were beaten 3-0 by Poole Town in Southern League Premier South.
The unused substitutes over the weekend were: Libby Bance (Birmingham City Women), Eiran Cashin (Birmingham City), Olivia Johnson (Bristol City Women), Matt O’Riley (Marseille), Jeremy Sarmiento (Cremonese), Malick Yalcouye (Swansea City).
