Fabian Hurzeler believes Harry Howell can be another success for the Albion academy, if he can continue to be ‘humble’ and ‘grounded’.
The 17-year-old was handed his Premier League debut by the German in the 3-2 win over Liverpool, and he was on the pitch for his cousin – another Albion academy graduate – Jack Hinshelwood’s late winning goal.
“Harry is not the only young player, so I always try to emphasize the way Brighton works,” Hurzeler explained. “We want to give young players a chance.

“And I said it after the game, for me, it's not a question of age, it's more the question of quality and if you deserve to play for the first team and be in the first team environment.
“Harry did an incredible job, he put in a really good performance against Liverpool. Now he has to be humble, stay grounded, keep working hard, and then I'm sure that he can be a role model for all the other young players in the academy, to show that if you work hard, you have a chance to be a first team player.”
It’s also been a season of progress for Hurzeler, who can reflect on a season in which he could potentially guide Albion into European competition for only the second time in our history.
“The biggest thing I would say [that I have learned] is consistency. To bring consistency to results, consistency to the performances. Consistency in the availability of the team. Consistency regarding how we deal with matches we are leading in, how we deal with matches when we are one goal behind.
“Game management is a big one for me. Getting consistency in every process, getting consistency in every topic is what helps us to win games with consistency.”
