Kjell Scherpen conceded twice as Sturm Graz lost 2-0 to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League but on domestic duty on Sunday he helped Graz beat LASK 2-1 in the Austrian Bundesliga to maintain their three-point lead at the top.
It was a good week for James Beadle at Sheffield Wednesday who picked up four points in two Championship games. James kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Swansea City before playing an important part in Fridayâs 2-1 win against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
Similarly, Tom McGill helped MK Dons to two wins in League Two â 2-1 at home to Accrington Stanley and 3-1 against Grimsby on Saturday. Dons, under former Crawley boss Scott Lindsey, have climbed to within a point of the play-offs.
Defenders
Valentin Barco got 30 minutes as a second-half substitute for Sevilla in their 2-0 win over Espanyol in La Liga, but Odel Offiahâs Blackpool were on the wrong end of a 5-1 hiding at Peterborough in League One.
Midfielders
Samy Chouchane and Luca Barrington both claimed assists in wins for their EFL clubs. Chouchaneâs came when he played for 75 minutes in Northamptonâs 3-0 win over Crawley Town on Saturday in League One while Barrington played 79 minutes for Grimsby last Tuesday and created the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Tranmere.
Benicio Baker-Boaitey got on for the last 21 minutes as League Two leaders Port Vale beat AFC Wimbledon 3-2 on Saturday while Kamari Doyle was a used sub for Exeter in their defeats against Reading and Huddersfield Town last week in League One.
In the Championship, Andy Moran continues to impress for Stoke City. The Irishman scored in last Tuesdayâs 2-2 draw with Bristol City and played the 90 minutes again on Saturday in a 2-0 loss to Sheffield United. Facundo Buonanotte again did well for Leicester City but couldnât stop them losing 3-1 at home to Nottingham Forest on Friday in the Premier League.
In Austria, Malick Yalcouye was in the Sturm Graz team beaten in Lisbon in the Champions League and played 73 minutes on Sunday in their league win over LASK.
Strikers
Ibrahim Osman had a good week for Feyenoord, starting in their 3-1 Champions League win over Benfica and Sundayâs domestic 2-0 triumph against Utrecht. Abdallah Sima played for 66 minutes as Stade Brest held Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw in the Champions League while Mark OâMahony had 82 minutes for Portsmouth on Friday but couldnât beat Sheffield Wednesdayâs Beadle at Fratton Park in the Championship.
