Striker Joao Pedro is heading to Brazil after being called-up for their latest World Cup qualifiers.
Joao, who has scored twice in our impressive start to the Premier League season with goals against Manchester United and Arsenal, will replace Flamengo’s Pedro, who suffered an injury in training on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s qualifier against Ecuador in Curitiba.
The 22-year-old has so far earned one cap for his country.
Brazil also face Paraguay next Tuesday in the latest round of qualifiers. They are currently sixth in the ten-team South America section with seven points from six games, eight points behind leaders Argentina.
