Albion’s Jason Steele will be going to the World Cup as a training goalkeeper in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
The 35-year-old was first involved in March when he helped England prepare for friendlies against Japan and Uruguay, working with goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and James Trafford, who were all in the 26-man squad announced on Friday.
England will face New Zealand in Tampa on June 6 and Costa Rica in Orlando four days later in friendlies ahead of the tournament.
The World Cup kicks off on 11 June but England do not play their tournament opener against Croatia until June 17.
Steele represented Great Britain at the Olympics in 2012.
Speaking after his call-up in March, he explained what the role will entail.
"My job is to come into work every day - like everyone else - and try my best. I try to have a positive impact every single day on everything I can control," he said.
"I'm over the moon and really happy. I'll try my hardest every single day in training and see what happens.
"I think I've shown this season that I train hard and prepare every day as if I am going to play, so maybe that has a positive impact on people."
Tuchel said: "We have chosen three goalkeepers and Jason Steele. I want to take the opportunity to thank Jason for being brilliant and thank Brighton for being so co-operative and supportive.”
