It was another good week for Amario Cozier-Duberry who continues to make important contributions to Bolton Wanderers’ League One promotion challenge.
The winger made it three goals and four assists with a late winner as his side came from behind to win 2-1 at Huddersfield Town and is clearly loving life with Bolton.
“The fans have been great and I’m really appreciative of their support. I want to keep building and to get them off their feet," he said.
“I want as many goals and assists as I can this season and contribute as much as I can to getting us promoted.”
Also on the mark this week was Andy Moran, who came off the bench to score a last-minute equaliser for LAFC in a 2-2 draw against Colorado in their second game in the end-of-season MLS playoffs. Another Irishman, Evan Ferguson, scored for the Republic of Ireland in their 1-0 win over Armenia in last Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier in Dublin, but he was restricted to 16 minutes off the bench in Roma’s 1-0 defeat to Internazionale in Serie A on Saturday.
Clean-sheet king Carl Rushworth had another shutout as Championship leaders Coventry City beat Blackburn 2-0. James Beadle started his first second-tier league game at St Andrew’s for Birmingham City and missed a glorious stoppage-time chance to equalise when he headed over from two yards in Blues’ 3-2 defeat to Hull City. Malick Yalcouye was a second-half sub for Swansea in their 0-0 draw at Southampton.
In League One, there were minutes for Barnsley’s Caylan Vickers in their 2-2 draw with Bradford City and Reading pair Kamari Doyle and Mark O’Mahony, but the Royals lost 2-1 at Cardiff City. Jacob Slater’s Harrogate Town lost 3-1 at Colchester in League Two but the young defender played 90 minutes.
In France, Matt O’Riley helped Marseille to a 6-2 home win over Le Harve which took them to the top of the table. Ibrahim Osman played 69 minutes of Auxerre’s 2-2 draw at Rennes.
Libby Bance was a second-half substitute for Birmingham City but they lost 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur in the Subway League Cup.
In Scotland, Jess Pegram played in the second half for Rangers in their 11-0 win over Hamilton Accies in the SWPL. Melina Loeck kept a clean sheet for Hammarby in the Swedish League when they won 2-0 at Vittsjo.
