Sports broadcaster and Albion fan Jules Breach is the latest guest on the Official Brighton & Hove Albion Podcast.
Jules is best known for covering European and domestic football for TNT Sports, but her path to the top of the game is an inspirational one for any aspiring journalists.
“I knew I liked journalism and that it was something that I thought I'd enjoy doing,” she said. “But it was when I was at Sussex University that I did some work experience on a TV show – Britain's Got Talent. I was a runner on that show, and it was the first time I saw how TV works. I thought, ‘this looks quite fun, this looks like something that I'd maybe enjoy working in’.
“But I still had a passion for the journalism side. I wanted to write. I wanted to get into reporting and broadcasting, but I didn't really know how to do it.
“I just kept writing to places and asking for more work experience. My first proper job was in radio at Southern FM, which is no longer with us in Sussex anymore. I worked on the team there and got a little bit of a taste for being on the microphone.
“I then got a job at Juice 107.2 on work experience until an opportunity came up to do the sports show and it was from there really that I started getting some more experience with TV companies.
“I did a job for ESPN online and then got a job at Premier League Productions. That was the first big TV show that I worked on.
Then BT Sport Score, which was a result show, which is where I first got with Glenn [Murray]. That was the biggest show I hosted, along with Mark Pugatch at the time and it was amazing.
“We did the show for about six years and then it kind of went from there into the more live football, which is where I'm at now.”
