Brighton & Hove Albion have filed annual accounts for the 2024/25 season, the club's eighth in the Premier League which saw the club finish eighth.
The accounts show an operating loss of ÂŁ54.4m before interest and taxation up to 30 June 2025, the end date for these accounts. This was primarily due to player trading results, which shifted from a profit of ÂŁ68.1m to a loss of ÂŁ25m.
Contributing factors included an increase in amortisation of ÂŁ39.8m as a result of a ÂŁ210m investment in significant additions to the playing squad during 2024/25.
These accounts do not reflect major player sales last summer, including Joao Pedro, Simon Adingra, Julio Enciso and Pervis Estupinan.
Chairman Tony Bloom said, âThe period covered by these accounts relates to the 2024/25 season and reflects another year of progress both on and off the pitch for the club.
âUnder Fabian Hurzeler â who became the Premier Leagueâs youngest head coach upon his appointment in June 2024 â we finished eighth, the second-highest league position in our history.
âWomenâs head coach Dario Vidosic, appointed in July 2024, led the team to a record-breaking fifth-place finish in the Womenâs Super League â another outstanding achievement.
âI remain incredibly proud of the hard work, expertise and professionalism of the players, our board of directors, executive team and entire staff. Their efforts have helped the club go from strength to strength and I thank everyone involved for their continued dedication.â
In his chairmanâs statement, which can be read in full in the annual accounts, Tony also paid tribute to the clubâs fans, thanked sponsors and partners, and underlined the important work of the clubâs Foundation.
He added, âWe enjoyed our time in European competition and aim to push regularly for a European spot â and, of course, we dream of winning the first major trophy in our history. Easier said than done, but we will keep striving.
âWhatever unfolds by the end of May, Iâm confident weâre in for more memorable moments as we continue the next stage of our journey together.â
