The club has invested in a significant number of additional body-worn cameras for our safety, stewarding and safeguarding teams operating inside and on the external perimeter at the American Express Stadium.
The body cameras, worn by staff on matchdays, are proven to significantly cut instances of anti-social behaviour within crowds, while also increasing the safety of our matchday stewarding and operations staff at the Amex. The new cameras will form part of the club's wider approach to monitoring crowd safety and security, alongside the club's cutting-edge panoramic CCTV system.
Head of safety and security Adrian Morris said, "We continue to strive to make the Amex as welcoming for all supporters as possible, and the vast majority of Albion fans support the club in our approach to make the stadium one of the most welcoming in football.
"Nevertheless, we still have a small number of anti-social incidents. The body-worn cameras have been proven to cut the number of these incidents, acting as a significant deterrent.
"Also, in the rare occurrences of anti-social behaviour that do occur they can also provide clear evidence to support the club and police in taking action, in line with our zero-tolerance approach towards any abuse of staff members or other supporters."
The club has a clear zero tolerance approach to all forms of anti-social behaviour, whether physical or verbal, and will work to ensure that any such behaviour is met with appropriate disciplinary action by the club and police.
