As part of Recycle Week UK, Brighton & Hove Albion has launched a range of technology products in its official club megastore made entirely from recycled plastic.
The recycled merchandise, which includes a power bank, wireless charger, and tracker tag, were all handmade locally in Brighton using the club’s own waste.
The local design company, Gomi, who specialise in creating sustainable tech products, collected plastic waste from the club’s superstore and helped craft the products which all feature a custom engraving on the back and bespoke packaging, making every item completely unique.
Tom Meades, co-founder at Gomi said, "Gomi first started by exploring how we could take plastics deemed ‘non-recyclable’ and transform them into electronics people actually treasure. Our mission has always been to keep waste out of landfill for good by designing beautiful, repairable tech.
“For this collaboration, it wasn’t just about creating merchandise for Seagulls' fans - it was about proving the value of circular design. Every item in this collection is made with material used by the Amex stadium.
“Collaborating with Brighton & Hove Albion is a true milestone. We’ve wanted to work with the club since day one. After making a video last year asking our followers to help connect us, the power of the internet worked.”
Designed in the signature blue and white of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, the new product range reflects the club’s commitment to reducing waste and ensuring sustainable choices are made across the club’s operations.
It also demonstrates the club's commitment to supporting local businesses and its deep ties to the city.
The club’s sustainability manager Tom Harris said, “As a club deeply rooted in our community, working with an innovative, Brighton-based manufacturer like Gomi was a natural fit for us.
“Their approach to turning waste materials into high-quality, repairable products aligns perfectly with the club’s wider sustainability goals.
“This collaboration allows us to offer our supporters a product that is not only functional and stylish, but also reuses plastic waste and gives a second life to batteries that would otherwise be discarded.”
The products are now available online at the club's store.
