Julia Zigiotti is happy to be part of a ‘hungry new’ Albion squad after the midfielder agreed a new contract.
The Swedish international, who joined the club in January 2022, has been impressed with head coach Melissa Phillips’ plans to climb the WSL after a difficult season when Albion finished 11th and had four different head coaches.
She said, “We want to move past last year, I think Mel has come in with good energy and hopefully we can just build on that with the (five) new signings we’ve already made.
“We weren’t happy with how last season ended and where we finished in the league, but I got a really good impression of Mel for the last few weeks when she came in and this season already feels good.
Julia Zigiotti wore the captain's armband last season.
I'm really excited and I want to build on last season and be better.”
Zigiotti, who has clocked up 36 appearance and scored eight goals since joining the club, wore the captain’s armband for much of last season and has personal and team aims for the new campaign, which kicks off at Everton on 1 October.
“Personally it was a tough season, but I thought I grew as a player and became more certain of myself both on and off the pitch. I want to build from that and just become a better player,” added the 25-year-old.
“We’ll be a new hungry squad. We want to be the best version of ourselves and climb the league.”
