Reading were the latest side to fall victim to a late Zak Emmerson strike as Albion snatched all three points in Premier League South.
The former Oldham Athletic forward fired in with a minute to go shortly after Kelvin Ehibhationham appeared to have rescued a point for Reading from the penalty spot.
Albion have been in rich goalscoring form this campaign but at times have been left frustrated despite creating an abundance of chances.
While that may well have been the case against Reading, the hosts were just as active in the final third with both sides registering 14 efforts.
Michael Stickland was credited with an own goal after 30 minutes to put Albion in the lead, but Ehibhationham equalised just before half-time.
Andy Moran continued his fine run of form when he netted his fifth league goal of the campaign ten minutes after the restart.
Ehibhationham’s spot-kick with five minutes to go looked as if it would mean the spoils would be shared but Emmerson was on hand to grab his second late winner in three matches.
Those extra two points have lifted Albion up to third in the division, just four points off top with 11 games played.
They are back in action next Monday against Woking in the FA Youth Cup.
