Adam Webster says a much-needed win over Brentford has put plenty of wind in Albion’s sails heading to Stamford Bridge tonight.
“We know how good Chelsea are, they had a good win on Boxing Day and they’ve got one of the best squads in the league, probably in the top three in the Premier League,” the 26-year-old said.
"Last year we went toe-to-toe with them at Stamford bridge and could have beaten them. The win over Brentford has given us confidence going into the Chelsea match, we want to give it a real go.”
The win over the Bees lifted Albion up to ninth in the Premier League and marked a first win in 12 matches.

“We had such a good start, it’s been frustrating to have not kicked on. But you’re going to have times in the season where you’re going to be struggling to get results and that’s always going to happen in the Premier League," added Webster.
“We want to try and make the top ten and the win over Brentford has pushed us in the right direction. We’ve got a tough game to come against Chelsea, but we’re looking to get a result. We’re capable of finishing in the top half.”
The former Ipswich Town and Bristol City defender made his return to first team duties against Brentford, having suffered a calf injury in the 1-1 draw at West Ham at the beginning of the month.
“It was frustrating, I played three games and then pulled up with my calf which I haven’t done before. I wasn’t sure what it was so tried to play on when I should have come off really.
“I think it might have been the pitch! We had a couple of injuries and so did they, so I will blame it on that. I want to put the injury behind me.”

Danny Welbeck and Steven Alzate, who had surgery on hamstring and ankle injuries respectively, also returned on Boxing Day.
“Everyone is pushing each other on, Steven [Alzate] came on against Brentford after a while out, and Welbz is back which is pleasing. It’s good to have bodies back, but you don’t know if you’re coming or going at the moment, it’s a bit tricky with Covid.
“You could have a full squad one day and the following you might be missing five players because of Covid, and injuries thrown into the mix.”
