Jens Scheuer said, “We want to get as far as we can in the FA Cup. Coventry may be the underdog but with so many players representing their countries preparation has not been easy, and we have to be fully focussed and show our strengths. The FA Cup is a big tournament with a lot of history and it’s important for me and the club. I want to reach the quarter-finals, so my only thought is how we can win the game.
“We have to prepare [for Coventry United] seriously. I have watched their recent games and since the winter break they have had two wins out of three. They are much better than in the first part of the season. We will be well prepared and anyone who underestimates them will be in trouble with me. We must find the same solutions against Coventry as we did against West Brom. It will be a tight game.”
This will be the first meeting between the clubs.
The opposition
Coventry United are currently in 12th and bottom place in the second tier Women’s Championship but their form since the turn of the year has been much improved with three wins in their last five, with one of their two defeats coming at Charlton Athletic when they went down 1-0 to a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Last Sunday they beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 thanks to goals in the first 20 minutes from Isobel Goodwin (2) and Ebony Wiseman. In the previous round of the FA Cup, Coventry enjoyed a convincing 4-0 win over Hashtag United.
Player to watch
Midfielder Mollie Green, 25, returned to the club in January on loan from Birmingham City for the rest of the season. The former England under-19 international scored the most famous goal in Coventry’s history on the final day of last season when her free-kick sealed a 1-0 win over Watford which kept them up and sent the Hornets down. Green has also played for Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United.
