Hope Powell admits Albion have a lot of improvement to make after they went down 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in Women’s Super League.
Kyah Simon scored twice and Ashleigh Neville and Shelina Zadorsky also netted with three goals coming in a seven-minute spell in the second half at The Hive.
Albion remain eighth in the WSL but are without a win in ten games in all competitions. Powell said, “We had a long chat afterwards. I said my piece but the players know that they need to take ownership of it.
Substitute Aileen Whelan breaks forward
“We had quite a lot of the ball today, but we didn’t really create much at all and we have conceded some poor goals. Confidence is a bit low at the moment, but the only people who can turn things around are the players, we need to do a lot better."
Powell hopes to have striker Geummin Lee back for next Sunday’s home game against Reading. She has been away for a month and played for South Korea in the Asian Cup final on Sunday, when they lost 3-2 to China.
“We have missed Lee, because she offers us something different up front – a calmness on the ball," added Powell. "There are players on the bench who will be pushing for a chance this week as well. I’m expecting a positive response from the players in training and we’ll prepare for Reading and look to put things right.”
