Hope Powell's side sit eighth after five matches.

Albion women’s head coach Hope Powell was pleased with her side’s performance in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and praised her side’s resilience to come back to secure a point.

Albion led through Rikke Sevekke’s early own goal, but found themselves 2-1 down before battling back for a draw thanks to a goal from Aileen Whelan.

Powell said, “I’m really happy. The point is a good result for us. We wanted to win the game, but it was a tough contest for both sides. I thought we contained them very well. We went ahead but I’m pleased with the comeback at the end to make it 2-2.”

Everton had a 100% record going into the match and Powell believes that her side can take a lot of heart from their performance going into a 17-day break until their next match.

“The goal put us on the front foot early on and gave us a lot of confidence but I think generally the way we played that we will take a lot of heart from that into the next games,” added Powell.

“Everton are towards the top of the league for a reason and they are strong in all areas, but we kept going and managed to get the draw. I think it was a strong performance.

"It’s quite nice to come off the back of a good performance to get a point going into a break. We have a few knocks and bruises so the break now will give those players time to rest and recover, then we go again in a couple of weeks.”
