Danny Welbeck has returned to training as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The striker was substituted early on against Manchester City in Albion’s final home of the 2020/21 season and is yet to make an appearance this campaign.
Graham Potter said, “Danny is getting closer to playing. He's training with the team this week and has looked good.
"We still have to check off a few things before he's available for selection but that's promising for him and for us.”
Fellow forward Neal Maupay got off the mark against Burnley last weekend, while Aaron Connolly is available after missing the fixture at Turf Moor.
While content with his striking options, the head coach wants to improve his squad if the right opportunity presents itself.
"It was nice for Neal to get off the mark with a goal, Aaron to come back into the group and then there are other options if we want to be creative in terms of having wide players or midfield players, we've got a lot of options.
“It's impossible to have every single attribute if you think of what a forward can bring. There's lots of things that we haven't got but then that might not necessarily fit into how we want to play anyway.
"So we're happy with what we have, but always looking to improve. That means improving the players we have and while the window's open you're looking to strengthen as well if you can."
