Head coach reflects on dramatic finale as Albion draw 1-1 with West Ham.

Graham Potter was pleased to progress and score three goals in the Carabao Cup.

Graham Potter praised his side's spirit after Neal Maupay scored a late leveller at the London Stadium.

Maupay's fifth of the season earned Albion a 1-1 draw and Potter felt it was no more than they deserved.

"It's a nice quality to have to be able to keep going and get goals near the end, but it shows there's a good spirit in the squad and the club," said the head coach.

"We had a lot thrown at us tonight in terms of injuries and being down to ten men at the end when Adam Lallana had to come off but the performance deserved the goal. In the end it's a fantastic point for us."

Albion had other chances after Tomas Soucek's early goal but Potter acknowledged it had been difficult to break West Ham down. "The trick is to turn possession into goal chances and that is not so easy to do against West Ham, who are very well drilled by David [Moyes]," added Potter. "They defend their box really well but we created chances quite well, so there is a lot to be happy with.

"The early goal was not good from our perspective, they are hard to control at set pieces. We had a bit of luck with their disallowed goal but I think we deserved that."

Albion have now drawn eight of their last ten games ahead of Saturday's trip to Southampton.

"I'd prefer to win than draw but we have no divine right to win matches in the Premier League but we put into a lot of the games we have drawn and we are picking up points which is important," said Potter. "There's a quick turnaround and we have to go again on Saturday."
