Graham Potter says he is pleased with how his first year in charge has gone but he knows a lot of hard work still lies ahead.
His Albion side face champions Liverpool tonight before hosting Manchester City on Saturday and the boss is keen to stress that the evolution of his squadis an ongoing project.
He said, “I think we’re at the start of a process and the first year can be quite tricky.
“You’ve got a foundation but you’re also trying to change so you have to be careful with what you’re doing, especially in the Premier League.
“I think the saying ‘fixing the plane while it’s up in the air’ is a good one, because it’s the toughest league in the world. You make mistakes and try to improve and get better. We need to finish the season strongly, learn and move forward.”
With seven points from a possible 12 since the restart, Albion’s form has earned praise. Potter credits the upturn since the league resumed to a strong mindset among his squad.
“I think it has been a collective thing. There seems to be a nice feeling amongst the boys. They know the situation that they're in,” he added.
“They probably feel we could have picked up a few more points and not be where we are [in the table] but they shouldn’t felt sorry for themselves.
“They got on with the job and there is a nice way about how they support each other which has been really positive.
“Everyone knows with the games coming thick and fast that it's not always about the best 11 players every week. We have to make sure we choose the right combination for each game and how we can use each other to help us get the points that we need.
“It would be unfair of me to single anybody out. It has been a real collective effort by the group.”
