Next few days could be the making of Albion's season, according to the head coach.

Graham Potter wants the challenge of this week to bring his team together.

Trips to Newport County, Manchester City and Leeds United could be the difficult challenge that puts the wind firmly in Albion's sails, according to head coach Graham Potter.

“We hope that a tough week brings us together,” he said, as Albion try to build on their FA Cup success against Newport County in Premier League games at Manchester City on Wednesday and Leeds United on Saturday.

“Sometimes you need those games, those tough situations. Everyone is fighting together, as we saw on Sunday.

"That spirit is something we want to try and use to be positive. Winning football matches however it happens is nice, so we were happy to go through in the FA Cup to start things off.”

There have been calls for a break in the season as Covid-19 cases mount across the country and the Premier League have told clubs to tighten their protocols to avoid a surge in infections among players and staff, who are being tested twice a week again.

“I know it's a tough period and of course we're all concerned. But our challenge, and what we have to focus on, is to try to be as safe as we can, stick within the protocols and rules that make our environment as safe as it can be and try to play football because there are probably some benefits to that.

"We don't know how the virus is going to go, so we have to keep monitoring the situation and be prepared to adapt.”
