Graham Potter is delighted with the progress teenage striker Evan Ferguson and says he has done āfantastically wellā this season.
The 17-year-old Irishman has been a regular in Potterās squad during our record-breaking Premier League campaign and made his debut against Burnley in February, as well as scoring eight goals in 17 starts for the under-23s. āYou forget that heās only 17, especially when you watch him every day in training,ā said the head coach. āWhat weāve done this year is expose him regularly to first team training and heās not looked out of place at all.
Evan has been training regularly with the first team since New Year.
āWe have to be responsible because of how young he is so a lot of that we consider in making decisions around him. But heās done fantastically well, he really has, and weāre so pleased with him.
āWith young players youāre better off assessing them after theyāve played 40-50 matches because otherwise you can get caught up in the euphoria and their potential. The reality is until theyāve played that amount of games itās difficult to really say but everything you need, heās got.
āCharacter wise, his personality and mindset are all really good. Weāve got a lot of faith in him.ā
