Potter looking for answers to improve away results

Graham Potter says Albion are working hard to try and answer the ‘million-dollar question’ of winning more away games in the Premier League.

Albion have won at Watford and Arsenal this season and have consistently played well on their travels without getting rewarded for their performance. At Everton on Saturday they had chances in the second half, but left beaten 1-0 after Richarlison’s first-half goal.

Potter said, “Getting results like Arsenal away more often is the million-dollar question. I have to work out how we can help the players reach better levels. [On Saturday] our performance level wasn’t quite where we needed it to be.

“I didn’t get the sense from the way we built up that we were as good as we can be in terms of that balance between building your attacks and defending your box. We grew into the game and the performance level wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good enough to get three points.”

Potter was pleased with Glenn Murray’s second-half contribution after the striker went close to equalising with two late chances.

“We haven’t got another player like Glenn, he’s unique in terms of his attributes,” added Potter. “I want him to be him and you can see what he brings to the team. If the ball is in the box - he’s got the knack of putting the ball in the net.”

Potter confirmed that he expects Aaron Mooy, who missed Saturday’s game because of injury, to be in contention for a return when Albion entertain Aston Villa at the Amex on Saturday.
