Sheffield Wednesday won 1-0 at the Amex last Saturday, but Potter says his players have reacted well in training this week.
He said, “I’ve always said that the response from my players after a disappointing performance or result has been good.
“You will have those days like last Saturday because that’s the reality of football. Collectively we weren’t good enough but it’s about how we respond and we have to be ready for Everton now.
“Everyone’s trained well and we’re ready for the game. We got a bit fortunate at the Amex in October when we beat them 3-2 but that’s part of football.
“We can still improve a lot of aspects of our game – in both attack and defence, creating chances and preventing chances. That’s not a criticism of the players, it’s just a normal process. We will carry on working and getting better.”
The head coach also spoke about the time it can take for players to adapt to the Premier League and a different way of life when they move from abroad.
“I think we underestimate the affect that moving into a different environment or a different country can have on a person. I did it myself but it isn’t easy,” he added.
“You also have different playing styles to get used to and things like new communication with your teammates.
“All those factors can have an effect and maybe that’s why there’s a premium on proven Premier League players. Sometimes you know it might take a bit of time for someone to settle for of a whole host of reasons.”
