Glenn Murray says Albion must quickly get over the disappointment of their derby defeat to Crystal Palace and focus on the final ten games of the Premier League season.

Wins for Norwich, Watford and West Ham as well as Bournemouth’s draw against Chelsea means 15th place Albion are separated by just a single point from Aston Villa, who are 19th with a game in hand on the other teams in the bottom seven.

Murray’s goals played a big part in keeping Albion up in their first two seasons at this level, so the experience of a successful survival battle is not new to him or a lot of the squad.

He said, “We’ve been here before haven’t we? Every season since we came into the Premier League we’ve been fighting for survival so it’s nothing new to us.

“We don’t think we are better than our current position. We’ve got to deal with this situation, lift ourselves and make sure we compete in every game between now and the end of the season, starting against Wolves on Saturday.”

Albion’s run-in includes games against champions-elect Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester as well as Wolves, who are sixth ahead of Saturday’s clash at Molineux.

But Graham Potter’s men have beaten Arsenal, Spurs and Everton this season and their form against top-half sides will give the squad plenty of encouragement, according to Murray.

“If the Premier League was that simple that could predict the scores every week, who would be interested?

"No-one had us winning at Arsenal and playing the way we did, so you just never know with this league where the points are going to come from and that’s why we love it.

“It doesn’t matter who you play, any game in the Premier League is difficult so you’ve got to lift yourself and compete each time and it will be no different at Wolves. We managed to get a point there last year, and we’ll hope to do that or better this time as well.”
