Glenn Murray reflected on a memorable ten days from a personal perspective after edging closer to Tommy Cook’s all-time goalscoring record in the recent draw with West Ham United, and signing a new contract.

Murray spoke after Saturday’s draw with Watford game about feeling appreciated in the squad, and being willing to do everything possible to preserve Albion’s Premier League status.

He said, “I would’ve liked a few more points and goals, but it’s been a good ten days. Being offered a new contract gives you confidence and makes you feel wanted at the club, which is ultimately what anyone wants.

“All I can do is give it my all, and I’m ready to do that for the final 12 games to try and help us stay up. I think we will, as we’ve been in this position before as a group and know what to do.”

The Seagulls frontman reflected on the 1-1 draw with Watford and admitted there was little that could be done about Abdoulaye Doucoure’s stunning opening goal for the Hornets.

“There were five or six players back there busting a gut to get back, but sometimes you’ve got to hold your hands up in terms of the quality of the strike," said Murray.

“He cuts in on the edge of the box and curls it in from there. It’s one of those things. We were trying to get back and defend, but you’ve got to give him credit.

“Looking back on the game as a whole, we were probably the better team going forward, but nothing would drop for us.”
