Jakub Moder is delighted to be back on the pitch and kicking a ball again as he continues his recovery from injury.
The 23-year-old is with the squad in Dubai this week for a warm-weather training camp eight months after he ruptured his ACL in the goalless draw against Norwich City in April.
Moder had to undergo another minor operation in the summer but is now stepping up his rehabilitation and feeling the ball at his feet.
“It actually feels quite weird passing the ball again and being back on the pitch after such a long time,” said Moder. “But I am back with the ball and that makes me feel good. I am also doing exercises to strengthen the knee so it will take time, but I will be back.”
He said that missing Poland’s World Cup campaign has been the hardest part of the last few months.
“I’d worked so hard with the national team so that was difficult, and when the injury happened I knew that it would be hard to make the World Cup.
“But I watched the games and of course I always support the team; I was in touch with some of the players during the competition and I was excited for them and happy we got through the group and played in the knockout stages.
“There is another World Cup in four years so that can be a target for me, but as I play in the Premier League I will support England!"

Moder has paid tribute to his teammates and the club’s medical staff for the support they have given him as he recovered from the first major injury of his career.
“The medical staff has been great. I had a problem with my range of movement after my first surgery but they are happy now and so am I.
“I understand how my body works better. There have been some tough moments but I got a lot of support from the staff and the boys as well as my family. The players have always been behind me. Some of them have been through an ACL injury so they know how it is.
“It has been hard. When it happened it took time to get used to a new reality for me but the most important thing is that I’m through it and will be stronger for it. Getting back on the pitch with my teammates will be emotional and I won’t rush things, but I am looking forward to that moment.”
