Kaoru Mitoma reckons with the quality of chances his teammates lay on for him, it would be difficult not to score.
The 25-year-old is being a bit harsh on himself given his extraordinary stoppage-time finish to defeat Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, but with six goals in his last 11 appearances, he certainly has the knack of finding the net.
“I’m scoring and making assists more than expected and that will allow me to keep my position as a starter,” Kaoru said. “If we can go on winning I will be able to get more trust [from my teammates], I think it’s a good cycle.

“I want to score as much as possible, in every match if possible. Maybe I could also set a target about how many goals I would like to score, but I also think it’s not good to be too conscious about such a thing - I just want to try to score in every match.
“There is no other team where I can receive good passes in such good situations. If I can’t score goals here, I would never be able to do it anywhere else.”
Kaoru says head coach Roberto De Zerbi likes to praise the team, rather than any individual performance.
“I’ve been praised [by the media] because the team is winning. As an individual player I feel I’m still a long way off from the players in the great clubs. I’m looking at myself from an objective point of view.”
