Albion fans had the chance to question members of the management team during the lockdown.
As Seagulls Over London’s (SOL) main activity is to arrange guest speakers from the club and elsewhere to address its members, it was a big blow when the country went into lockdown in March with our meetings cancelled.
Our members were suddenly at a loss, especially the many whose lives revolve around the Albion. It was therefore a great morale booster when arrangements were made for a Zoom Q&A just for SOL members with Paul Barber on 6th April.
A large turnout enjoyed asking questions for nearly 90 minutes. As one member messaged afterwards, reflecting everyone’s feelings, ‘He’s a very impressive speaker and it’s to his great credit that he’s prepared to answer a wide range of questions on some tricky subjects as well as he did.’
A Q&A with Graham Potter and Dan Ashworth followed with one member saying ‘A great opportunity to ‘meet’ the boss and his boss. I hope after the end of the lockdown this may become a more regular opportunity, especially if shared with other supporters’ groups.’
Regular Q&As with some former players followed and positive feedback continued to flow. After the one with Bobby Zamora and Steve Sidwell one of our members said, ‘Top evening of entertainment – thanks to everyone involved. Double act beckons for Bobby and Steve!’
SOL members also welcomed the opportunity to hear and see fans from other supporters’ clubs especially Seagulls Down Under which prompted us to start developing a relationship with them.
In the future, SOL is looking forward to welcoming personnel from the club to its meetings in London again and will be delighted if there can also be more Zoom Q&As, enabling interaction with those from the club who may not be able to travel to London for a midweek meeting.
