Solly March labelled his latest injury as the 'most frustrating one' after making his Albion comeback in the 0-0 draw with Rangers.
The wing-back hobbled off in the 1-0 win at Liverpool in February, and following knee surgery has completed his rehabilitation in time for the beginning of the new season.
âIt was great to be back as it's been a tough time out. It was only 45 minutes [against Rangers], but I came through it unscathed and now I need to build on that and hopefully get to full fitness by the end of pre-season.
The wing-back's last Premier League appearance came against Liverpool in February.
âIt was the most frustrating injury as I thought I was in really good form, even though it wasn't as long out as the previous injury I had.
âThe timing wasnât great but when youâre playing well you want to keep playing for as long as possible. My aim is to get to that level again and improve on that.â
The 27-year-old says the squad should set their sights high when the new season kicks off at Burnley on 14 August.
âAs a team our aim is to finish top ten. Some people might say thatâs a bit high, but we have got the capability to do that if we improve at the top end of the pitch a bit. I donât see why we canât get there â especially if we work hard and believe in ourselves.
Solly March reckons Albion can build on their good performances last season.
âIn a lot of games last season we outplayed the opposition, we keep the ball well and play nice football, itâs just that ruthlessness we need to find. If we do that itâs going to be a good season.
âHopefully having 30,000 supporters behind us at the Amex can help us too. Itâs been nearly two years of playing behind closed doors and itâs a lot different without fans. I canât wait for them to be back.â
