Our supporter services team recently held a disabled fans’ forum to answer questions on the upcoming Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
Below are the main talking points from the forum.
Europa League
Once the draw has been made in September, a member of staff from the club will do a recce at each away stadium with attention to access requirements for disabled supporters.
Personal assistant tickets will still be available. There is some uncertainty on the law in each country as to whether personal assistants get free entry for away games.
Parking at The Amex
We have an allocation for accessible parking bays in car parks A, B & C. We are currently phasing out seasonal parking to try and make it as fair as possible. Seasonal parking will not be taken away from people who currently have it. This is due to the demand in spaces.
Parking does sell out very quickly and therefore we have introduced a ticket exchange for accessible parking. If you have purchased accessible parking or are a seasonal parking holder and you cannot attend, you can relist your space for sale and allow someone else the opportunity to use it. If sold, you will be reimbursed.
Amex Stadium Accessibility
If anyone needs help moving to a different season ticket seat in the stadium which is easier to access, contact supporter services and they can help accommodate this.
If a supporter needs a quieter space for taking medication, speak to a steward or stand manager and they can give you access to a room for this. We also have first aid rooms on all concourses. Assistance dogs are welcome at the stadium, but please contact supporter services in advance. A dog spending area can be found on the grass bank outside of the East Stand.
Hidden Disability Wristbands
Some disabled supporters were not aware of the hidden disability wristband scheme that the club offer. The wristband is to help catering, stewarding and ticketing staff to better assist supporters and avoid otherwise awkward situations for supporters and our staff. Supporters who do not have one but would benefit from one can contact supporter services for the wristband form.
Fan Advisory Board
Gill, chair of the Fan Advisory Board, was present at the forum. The FAB are looking to set up a Disabled Supporters Association. There was a positive response to this from the supporters who attended the forum. Gill told fans that they would receive an email from the club once the FAB were able to formally launch a Disabled Supporter’s Association. More information will be circulated in due course.
