Libby Bance has been putting in extra hours as she bids to hit the ground running ahead of the new WSL season.
The 20-year-old midfielder suffered a minor stress fracture in her foot at the end of last season but since recovering she has been a regular at the American Express Elite Performance Centre during the summer working on her fitness ahead of the return to pre-season training next week.
“I’ve been itching to get back and to see everyone again for pre-season,” she said. “Once I’d got over the injury I came back to do a lot of gym work and rehab. I feel good and I’m raring to go for pre-season.”
Bance, who has been with the club since 2015, was given a new contract last week and is determined to repay the faith shown in her by head coach Melissa Phillips.
Libby signed a new contract extension earlier this month.

“I'm incredibly grateful that the management see me as part of the future of the club,” she said. “I just want to pay that back by working hard and hopefully making an impact in the new season.
“I'm very excited to stay at the club. I've been here a long time now and I see the future of the club in a really positive way. There isn't anywhere else I want to be and I can't wait to be a part of things.”
Albion have already signed five new players and Bance is looking forward to working with her new teammates.
“I’m really excited to play with the new signings, they all have great experience and I think I can learn a lot from them. Of course you can learn so much from coaches but actual players that have been through experiences that you want to experience is something you don't get anywhere else.”
