Leandro Trossard is eager to get back to playing and building on his first season in English football.
But having not played a game for six weeks due to the coronavirus crisis, the Belgian midfielder has devoted some time to construction of a different kind while spending time with his young family in his native Belgium.
He said, “I’ve just tried to enjoy the moments with my family as much as I can and enjoy the little things.
“I’m just hoping football comes back at some point, that’s what we’re all waiting for. It isn’t easy to fill your days, but we’re all trying.
“I’ve been playing things like LEGO with my little boy, I’ve had a go at that! I’ve tried to build some things with that to try and keep busy.”

Albion last played at Wolves on 7th March, and Trossard has been doing his best to maintain a good level of fitness during the subsequent break from competitive action.
“It’s been tough for everyone. I’ve been out for runs, been on the bike,” he added. “Of course, we’d all rather be playing football, that’s our work and hobby, and it’s been a long time. Nothing like this has happened before so it’s a strange time at the moment.
“If you don’t do much fitness work then the chances of picking up an injury when we do return to training will be far higher. It’s about trying to maintain a level of fitness.”
Albion have nine games of the 2019/20 campaign to play including fixtures against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal – all of whom were due to visit the Amex before the Premier League was suspended on 13th March.
“It’s always a strange thing to quit the game in the middle of the season. We had some pressure on us, so to turn that off quickly took some time to get used to.
“Until then, the season for me has been pretty good. I wanted to keep that going and I’m hungry to get back.
“I felt like I was starting to find my feet in the Premier League - like anything new in life you adapt and learn and get better. We have some big games still to play this season and I’m looking forward them it. The Premier League throws up big games every week and I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the competition.”
Trossard also gave a message to the club’s supporters at this tough time, encouraging them to stay positive and enjoy things that their normal lives wouldn’t always afford them time to do.
“We are eager to play when it’s safe to do so and we want to give our fans good feelings again.
“But this is also a chance to enjoy the little things in your life, things that sometimes you perhaps can’t appreciate because everyone is so busy. Hopefully we can return soon and enjoy football again together.”
