Tariq Lamptey has praised Roberto De Zerbi and is enjoying playing his part in a âreally exciting period for the clubâ.
The 22-year-old has worked his way into the Italianâs plans in recent weeks, starring in our wins against Liverpool and Bournemouth before our head coach turned to him when we needed a winner against Crystal Palace.
Lamptey was also trusted from the start against Arsenal on New Yearâs Eve after his exciting performances for Ghana at the World Cup, and the right-back is full of praise for De Zerbi.
Ahead of Saturdayâs Amex date with Fulham, he said, âI am really enjoying working under Roberto.â Every game we play is a new challenge, and he always gives us the tools to perform.
âItâs a really exciting period for the club and Iâm happy to be a part of it with him. You can see from watching him on the touchline how passionate he is â he kicks and heads every ball with us â and heâs exactly the same in training every day.
âHe demands a high level and expects a lot. We enjoy learning as much as possible, because that gives us the best chance of getting a positive result. Weâre moving in the right direction under him.â

Lampteyâs involvement wasnât so regular at the start of the campaign, but he has bided his time. âI have had to be patient but Iâm playing regularly now. I always give my best when Iâm training and whether I start or come on in games, I work my hardest to contribute. I just want to help the team as much as possible.
âLittle setbacks like not starting or not getting as many minutes brings out the best in me. I train even harder, try and be as positive around the place as a I can and be the best version of myself whenever Iâm called upon.
âAs a player you want to play but patience is important and Iâm ready to go whenever Iâm called upon.â
