While many of Albion’s departments are now working from home, for some that just isn’t possible and they are still coming into the stadium or training ground to continue their jobs.
We are running a series of ‘keep on running’ features, showcasing these departments and the work they are doing to go the extra mile and keep thing ticking over for our supporters, just as much as they can in line with government advice.
Today, we look at our retail team, and the team who help fans get the latest merchandise from the club store and online.
Retail manager Claire Britton is working with her team to ensure fans can still purchase replica kit, merchandise and other Albion products via the online shop.
Britton explained, “We have closed our stores at the Amex and Churchill Square, but we are still running our online store with free delivery for all.
“We have a small team of two or three working in the warehouse at the stadium, picking and packing customer orders and answering enquiries via email.
“Once we took the decision to close the store at the Amex, the club quickly made the call to offer worldwide free shipping on all online orders.”
Our retail staff are continuing to process online orders.
Britton, a mum of one and an Albion fan from birth, has been with the club for 15 years. She has seen a lot in her time with the transition from Withdean to the American Express Community Stadium and promotion to the Premier League, but nothing compares to the current situation.
She added, “We want to keep our staff safe and well, so are following all the government and club guidelines regarding good hygiene and ensuring that working areas are kept clean. Should any staff show even the mildest of symptoms they will stay at home.
“Our various suppliers and partners have been amazing, and we are working with our delivery carriers so parcels can be signed for on behalf of the customer by the driver to avoid contact or having to sign courier pads.
“Our retail management team are also working with suppliers to ensure new product lines are in progress and amending delivery schedules where possible. We are still taking deliveries and we hope that some new clothing lines will be made available online in the coming weeks.”
Britton also had a message for fans, adding, “Our supporters have come through so much, using the together mantra, but this is the biggest challenge we have ever faced and now, more than ever, it is so apt to us all, right across the world. We want to do our bit so it’s important everyone sticks together, follows the advice and plays their part.”
