Mikey Harris wants Albion to be more of a threat in the final third as he prepares his side for another important cup tie.

Albion head to Telford United’s New Bucks Head ground on Sunday to take on Wolves in the fifth round of the Adobe FA Cup.

Harris will be taking charge of his third game since being appointed interim head coach on 1 February.

Albion went out of the Conti League Cup on Wednesday when they lost on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa. Harris said there was much to be positive about his team’s performance but admitted they need to be more clinical.

“Our out of possession structure, our pressing structure – that’s is the bit we need to add to,” he said. “And to be more of a threat in the final third.

“We are trying to align the way we play with the philosophy of the rest of the club, and to be authentic. Everyone is buying into that and I feel we’re moving in a positive direction.”

Wolves are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition as were our fourth-round opponents Luton, whom Albion beat 6-0.

“We’re respectful of the opposition and we won’t take them for granted,” added Harris. “We’ve seen plenty of them and done our research but the focus is on us. Having already played Luton away the experience on Sunday won’t be a new one for the players and we need to perform the way we’re capable of.”

Harris updated on the fitness of deadline-day signing Taylor Smith, who joined from American club Gotham City for the rest of the season. “Unfortunately Taylor picked up a viral infection so it will take a bit of time to get her conditioned and be ready to play,” he said.
