Kayleigh Green says the womenâs team are feeling fresh ahead of their Vitality FA Cup fifth round match against Coventry United.
We welcome the Red and Greens to the Broadfield Stadium on Sunday, kick-off 2pm, after a fortnightâs international break.
âWeâve just comeback from internationals and weâve had a lot of girls who have been away,â Green explained. âWhen you come back from playing for your country you have a bit of energy, but going into the Coventry game we know itâs going to be tough.Â
âTheyâre the underdogs and in the FA Cup there are always hiccups and shocks, we canât think itâs an easy game â if we do that then weâll be in trouble. We need to prep like itâs any other game and hopefully we can get through.
âTheyâre going to be physical. They might be at the bottom of the Championship, but theyâve won a few games recently and we know itâs going to be a battle.
âOur mindset should always be the same, focussed and wanting to win games, but this is an opportunity to step in with an advantage of being a WSL team. The pressure is going to be on us to win, they are going in without external expectations and we have to deal with that.â
The break came on the back of a 6-2 defeat to Aston Villa, having drawn with Carla Wardâs side the week prior.
âWe went away to Aston Villa and got a good point, but then we had a really tough game at home against them. The break definitely came at a good time to refresh and refocus.â
