Evan Ferguson became Albion’s youngest ever Premier League goalscorer after netting against Arsenal on New Year’s Eve.
The 18-year-old smartly struck home from Lewis Dunk’s pass to cut the deficit in our 4-2 defeat to the Gunners.
He already has a place in the club’s history, having become our youngest Premier League player when he came on as a substitute against Burnley in February.
While unhappy with Saturday result, Evan was impressed by Albion’s spirit against the league leaders.
“It shows the team we are. Arsenal are a good team, but we made them nervous at the end.

“If Kaoru’s second goal [that was ruled out for offside] had counted it would have been a completely different ending.
“It’s a disappointing result, because we wanted to win the game. But on a personal level I am pleased to get the goal.”
The forward is delighted to have made his own little bit of history, but is focussed on the here and now.
“It’s not a bad thing to be our youngest scorer! I am just looking forward to the Everton game now and hopefully I can try and get another goal.”
Skipper Lewis Dunk was delighted for Ferguson, who made his Republic of Ireland senior debut in what has been a momentous 2022.
"He showed where he’s at with the way he took the goal," said Dunk. "He’s down to earth, a young kid with a great work ethic who gives his all in training and who is going to keep improving. I’m buzzing for him and hopefully there is a lot more to come from him."
