Lewis Dunk has been impressed by Roberto De Zerbiâs footballing ability after the Italian took his first training sessions.
The former Sassuolo and Shakthar Donetsk manager was able to take to the training pitch following the granting of his work permit last week.
âWe had a very good first session, it was intense,â Dunk said. âThe gaffer got his points across, obviously not everyone is here because of the international break so itâs difficult to change anything.
âHe joined in the rondos, heâs got a bit! Itâs good to see him joining in the sessions. Heâs technical, loves a flick and always wants the ball. Itâs going to be an enjoyable process.â
Lewis Dunk is looking forward to working under Roberto De Zerbi.
While De Zerbiâs ability on the ball needs little work having played in Serie A, the 43-year-old will be leaning on a translator as he continues to learn English.
âEnrico, Robertoâs translator is very quick at getting the message across and we get a good picture of the managerâs personality through his body language, which is a good thing," added Dunk.
âHe can speak some English and Andrea, Robertoâs assistant, can speak a little bit as well. Itâs been smooth and itâs going to get easier as they learn the language in full.
Roberto De Zerbi took his first Albion training session on Monday.
âRoberto has said that playing under him is going to be a process and that itâs not often a new manager comes in when a team is doing well. So itâs about him getting his message across over time.â
Roberto took over following a good start for Albion, as they won four of their six opening games. And despite Graham Potterâs unexpected departure, Dunk says everyone is focussed on giving their all for their new boss.
âYou have to be ready whatever happens, itâs football. Managers and players donât stay at clubs forever, so weâre excited for a new challenge.
âWeâre excited to learn some new ways and ideas and become a better team under Roberto. Weâre open to his ways and thoughts and we canât wait to get cracking and carry on winning games.â
