Lewis Dunk says Albion have enough quality and spirit to make sure they are a Premier League club next season.

The captain couldn’t celebrate his 300th league appearance for the club on Sunday with a positive result after Manchester United came from behind to win 2-1 at Old Trafford.

But Albion still have a six-point buffer above the relegation zone and a far superior goal difference to the teams around them. They face Everton next at the Amex on Monday.

Dunk said, “I still thought it was a good performance on Sunday with positives to take despite losing. It was always going to be hard against a good Manchester United team.

“It leaves us with another big game next Monday. We’ve got eight to go, and we know we can win any of them and we’re confident in our dressing room of doing that. We aren’t setting points targets - we are going on the pitch looking to win those eight games.

“We have got that fight and enough quality in our dressing room to show that we’re good enough to be in this league again for another season.”

Dunk admitted to a sense of frustration after United hit back following Danny Welbeck’s first-half header against his former club.

“It was disappointing. At times I thought we were very good, but they scored two goals which are poor from us, from our mistakes.

“They didn’t have many good chances other than that but put two away. They were always going to react and come at us after we’d been the better team in the first half.”
