Lewis Dunk has a return to Wembley in his sights after celebrating his 400th game for Albion with a man of the match performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Stoke City in the Emirates FA Cup.
Dunk and Kaoru Mitoma combined to create the only goal for Evan Ferguson in the first half and seal our place in Wednesday’s quarter-final draw.
Dunk said, “We’re all buzzing to get through to the next round and be one game from Wembley. We knew it would be a tough game because Stoke are a good side but we got the job done.
“We’ve been at Wembley before and lost the semi-final to Manchester City [in 2019], so hopefully we can go one better. It was a great milestone tonight for me personally. I’m lucky to be at my home-town club and to have played 400 games. Hopefully I can play loads more.”
Ferguson praised Mitoma’s contribution to his fifth goal of the season.
“It’s the sort of thing we work on in training so it’s great when it comes off," said the Irishman. "When Kaoru gets in those areas he’s so dangerous and it was a pretty easy finish for me. We’re delighted to get through. As a team we know what we want to achieve and hopefully we can keep going in the Cup.”
