Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s second-half equaliser was no more than they deserved, and captain Dunk felt Albion could even have scored a late winner.
He said, “It’s a very good point and shows the character we have got to get a result like that having gone 1-0 down so early.
“We tried to play out in the first half and they pressed us well but we knew they couldn’t do it for 90 minutes.
“We got a goal back and might even have nicked the win at the end. It’s our first point against Chelsea and it’s a big point.”

Dunk was delighted for team-mate Jahanbakhsh who has now scored in successive Premier League games following Saturday’s goal - his first for the club - in the 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.
“Ali has had a great week and it was some finish," added Dunk.
"He works his socks off in training and now he’s getting an opportunity, he is getting his rewards so hat’s off to him.”

Dunk believes Albion can look forward positively to 2020 after picking up four points from their last two games. They take a break from league action on Saturday when they host Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.
“We just want to keep improving and keep enjoying working under this manager," he added.
"Let’s get enough points first to make sure we stay in this league and then go from there, but we will continue to work hard for the rest of the season.”
