Jack Hinshelwood scored Albion's goal in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

Albion under-18s slipped to back-to-back defeats in Premier League South with a 2-1 loss at Tottenham on Saturday.

Spurs went in at the break 1-0 up thanks to Renaldo Torraj’s strike, before Rio Kyerematen’s early goal in the second half left Albion with a mountain to climb.

Jack Hinshelwood got a goal back for Albion just after the hour mark, before the visitors hit both the post and the crossbar, but Albion were left to rue their missed opportunities and now sit seventh in Premier League South.

Professional development phase coach James Baxter said, “We saw a good reaction after conceding early on in the second half and a fair reflection would have been a draw, but we’ve got to show that grit to get something out of games.

“I watched the under-23s on Friday and they showed the grit I am talking about to come away with a point, that’s where our learning curve comes from.

“We’ve found ourselves in a position of only firing into life when the odds are stacked against us. The higher up the age groups you go, the harder it becomes to get something from games so you can’t allow yourself to be in that situation regularly.

“These are young boys learning their trade but they’ll develop their savviness and managing the game.”
