Dan Burn was delighted to answer Graham Potter's call for more goals from other areas of the team against Everton.
The defender scored his first of the season either side of midfielder Alexis Mac Allisterâs double as Albion made it seven points out of nine over the festive period with Sundayâs 3-2 win at Everton.
âItâs important for us to get more goals from midfield and from us defenders so that was a big plus on Sunday,â said Potter.
âI have always struggled to score with headers to be honest but I thought Iâd nip around the back. Enock [Mwepu] got a great flick on and I couldnât really miss it.
âWe had a game plan which we executed well, particularly in the first half. We scored two good goals and quietened their crowd, which is never easy at Goodison Park. We had to dig in the second half and we defended well when we had too. We had to deal with a lot of long balls into the box and when Shane Duffy came on in the second half I thought that made a big difference.â
Sundayâs win lifted Albion up to eighth and they reach the halfway point in the campaign having only lost four games.
âItâs been a great week. If youâd offered us seven points from the Brentford, Chelsea and Everton games weâd have been delighted,â added Burn. âBut it is no more than we deserved and the good thing is that everyone in the squad has contributed.
âPhysically itâs hard to play three games in seven days but I think the last week has shown what a strong squad weâve got. Someone like Alexis [Mac Allister] has come in and contributed with three good performances and two goals on Sunday.
âWeâll rest up now and prepare for an important game against West Brom in the FA Cup on Saturday.â
