Albion are confident of reopening the club's Dual Career Academy, after confirming to The FA that the protocols in place for the academy meet the same elite standard as the women's first team and boys' academy.
The club has requested that the 'development' squad be allowed to return to training and are hopeful of continuing playing fixtures.
Albion's women's and girls’ general manager Polly Bancroft explained, "Our Dual Career Academy here at Brighton & Hove Albion has been operating under the same protocols as the boys' academy, since returning from the initial lockdown.
"We have taken additional steps to put measures in place, which match the Premier League protocols for the boys' academy, and these have already been deemed as ‘elite’ by the government.
"With this in mind we are hopeful The FA will give us permission for the players to resume training and continue with their development."
The club will continue to ensure all players are regularly tested ahead of training and matches, in line with the regulations, and have full access to club doctors and medical staff, during training and matches, as required.
"We are hopeful that other DCAs are also in this position meaning we can start playing fixtures again, but we await a final decision from The FA as to whether we can recommence."
Bancroft is also added, "We remain in dialogue with The FA regarding the Regional Talent Club’s ability to recommence training too."
