Under-18s coach Arthur Brammer feels the standards being set by the under-21s are providing an excellent blueprint for him and his players. Â
Shannon Ruthâs team swept aside Monaco in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday night and Brammer was impressed.Â
âThe football the under-21s are playing â I was lucky to be with them at the start of the season â seeing it first-hand has really helped me. The under-18s are following the Brighton philosophy of playing and that puts them in a good place when theyâre ready to make the step up to the under-21s.
âIâve got a huge amount of respect for Shannon. The work heâs done with the under-21s alongside Gary Dicker and Sal Bibbo â it was no mean feat to beat Monaco, theyâre a top European team."Â
The under-18s are currently winless in five games but struck late on Monday night to secure a point at Southampton, and Arthur wants to see his side mirror their approach when they take on rivals Crystal Palace at the weekend.Â
âThe boys showed really good personality to stay in the game, good perseverance and on the balance of the game they deserved something.Â
âWe played through the thirds really well and Elliot Jenks scored a nice goal with his non-dominant foot. Itâs a big game against Palace on Saturday.âÂ
Arthur Brammer's team face Crystal Palace this Saturday.
Meanwhile the FA Youth Cup third round draw was made earlier this week and Albion will face Dover Athletic at home on Wednesday 14 December at 7pm.Â
âThereâs a little extra on those games, but what we want them to do is approach every game in the right way, we have to make sure the right habits are in place, whether weâre playing Crystal Palace or Dover. They canât just raise the standards for games and expect to be at the level, they need to be training at the same level.â
