The Amex will provide the venue for a multi-agency training exercise on Thursday, and the club is asking visitors to avoid the area unless their visit is essential.
Led by Sussex Police and involving various other emergency services, those involved will test their skills in a practice scenario.
This is something which the emergency services and other agencies carry out on a regular basis with the aim of keeping the public safe.
People may notice a spate of activity as emergency crews respond to an exercise in a section of the stadium during a supposed matchday.
It will also involve safeguarding volunteers who are acting as match spectators, and is not an event for public viewing.
Members of East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, West Sussex Fire & Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Sussex Police, British Transport Police as well as the Environment Agency and Public Health England Air Quality Cell service, together with staff from the club and Network Rail, will take part in an exercise which has been organised by the Sussex Resilience Forum.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mark Andrews, vice chair of the Sussex Resilience Forum, said, “Thursday morning’s exercise will allow us to test emergency protocols, learning and use of chemical detection equipment in our response.
“We appreciate the support of the football club in providing the venue for this live exercise, which will lead to a further exercise in relation to the incident involving more partners in a few months.”
The Sussex Resilience Forum ensures its partners are prepared and arrangements are in place to deal with major incidents across the county.
