Steven Alzate has said he has shown glimpses of what he’s capable of as he finds his feet with Standard Liege.
The Columbia international has started Liege’s last three games, ahead of their match this Sunday against rivals Anderlecht.
“Hopefully I can keep playing and helping the team as much as I can,” Steven said. “I want to help as much as possible going forward and defensively.
Steven Alzate's Standard Liege take on Anderlecht on Sunday evening.
“Going forward I want to link up with the strikers, use my creativity but, when I need to defend, I need to fight as much as I can for the team.
“It’s nice playing with these players. We understand each other, we are on the same wavelength. I am sure people will see more of the link-up play between us.”
The midfielder is continuing to build up his fitness having made just five appearances for Albion and Liege so far this campaign.
The midfielder is on a season-long loan in Belgium.
“I would say you have seen glimpses [of my ability], I am getting there. Am I at 100% yet? Well, I try to give my 100% in every game in terms of effort.
“But, in terms of full fitness, full confidence, I would say I am nearly there. It has been a while since I have played week in and week out, so it is a good test for me physically. But I am sure I will get there.”
